Hello my feisty, savvy, rocking, do it anyway single mom sisters! I know you are rocking the Earth with your fabulousness and rightly so! The world needs what you possess! But, tonight’s post comes to remind you to rest when you know you need it, to press reset as often as you need, and to not feel guilty for it. The world will get your greatness, but it can wait.

It is so tempting to think we are Super Women. We are super, and we are women. But, we are not robots. We are human. We need rest. I need rest. You need rest. The constant churn of work, life, family, business, etc. can be exhausting. Beautiful. A blessing. But, exhausting. Unless you and I come back to center,  we will see the wheels fall off. Trust me. Not a good look.

Self-care has been on my mind lately. I had my own bout with “letting go” recently when I wasted 4 hours trying to fix a washing machine. (I know. Cray idea.) But, I just knew I could save money. (rolls eyes at self) My oldest son and I have been fooling with this thing for months and it just won’t work. I worked my little self tired. After a valiant effort, it felt like I had been exercising for 3 hours because it required loads of squatting, laying flush on the floor, and lifting heavy doors and parts. Not to mention figuring out what the heck a freaking torque screw is! Chile! How I wish I had paid a technician. It’s 3 days later and I am still sore. Lol! Whipped! Do you hear me. There is a point. I was so expectant that it would work this time and it did not. My body ached and my time was gone. I had stuff to do and had to table it to later. Then it hit me! “Why not table it til later!” I mean, I am my own boss and I need a respite. With that in mind, I say to you:

Do not feel guilty about the interruptions life brings, the bad decisions you made, and the lost whatever. Focus on what you can do and get it done. AFTERWARDS, rest! As a single mom, I have a long to-do list, and I’m sure you do, too. But, we have to remind ourselves that we can only do so much. And, we don’t have to have our bodies warn us of pending shut down to take a break.

As single moms, we have to do it all. We just have to! Or, do we? Hmm. I submit to you that we do not! We can reach out to friends and carpool, take turns baby sitting, or…get this- We can just say NO when folks ask us to do stuff and we are tired. Say no to the hustle and bustle. Press RESET.

Over the years, I have missed a game or two. As a single mom, I have to understand I am the only parent, and so yes, I have  gone home, rested, and then returned. Yes I did. And guess what? My kids are still alive and they love me.  Listen, you have got to know when to take a break. Look at it this way. If you get ill, who is going to make the world go round? Right! So, pace yourself. Restrict the activities the kids can be in, enlist help from others, hire help (if you can afford it). There is too much riding on you to be tossed in every direction. Get clear. Execute where needed and let go of the rest. You can only do what you can do. That is enough.

This is my heartfelt, preachy advice that I am giving myself. Thought I’d share it with you! It’s life!  We all get caught off track. It’s up to you to say enough is enough.

What would you add to the list? What do you do to relax and center so you can rock the life you got? Sound off in the comments. Your fellow Rock Stars want to know!

Wishing you a fantastic day and week!

Do It Anyway!
