Parenting Tip: How to get teenagers to clean up - Kaywanda Lamb | Dallas Single Parenting Expert, Coach, and Speaker

Hey sis! How are you?Are you relaxing or out enjoying life!! In case you’re in like me and have some kiddos that need to clean up, have I got a tip for you! Really, it’s not a tip per se. It’s something I do that is just as simple as meaning what you say.

At my house (literally as I type), after talking and reminding my boys to clean, it’s delivery time. The item to be delivered is a clean room. The prize: return of electronics. Haha! Feel free to utilize this state of the art tip: Confiscate the stuff they hold dear and that you pay for. Clean is not something boys naturally want to be. I don’t know why or how this changes. It just does. They used to love to be tidy. Now, I have to pull out the big guns. Or should I say take away the prized toys?

I laugh, but I’m real serious. Kids need parents to be parents. Responsibility is a good thing.  I will not withhold learning and discipline from my boys. I pray you do the same for yours. When they’re done, we’ll have movie night. If they don’t ever finish, well I guess they can remember what it was like to text their friends and play video games. Lol! Absolutely serious.

Parenting is hard. I know sis.

Do It Anyway!
