Funny, fun, smart, gorgeous, purpose-filled, and thriving.

These are the adjectives to equate with single moms. No longer should you think frumpy, tired, and out of touch with fashion and current events. Oh no! We come in all shapes, sizes, demographics, social strata, etc. You just can’t put us in a shell and label us. WE HAVE STYLE HONEY! We are here! “Snaps fingers”

All that gusto aside, as a young single mom to two boys, I did stop living the first few years of their lives. I was overwhelmed, exhausted and doing it alone. And the way I dressed! Omg! No pics, please. But even worse, I didn’t notice I was looking like that- a hot mess.

One day, my cousin asked me, “What are you wearing?” At first, I was defensive. Yep! I tried it. But then I thought ‘this isn’t me’. Literally, all that drama had me down and it showed in my appearance. Too big clothing, hair always in a ponytail, and carrying some babies on each hip. Lol! I had long hair but the folks at work didn’t know it.

But then, after some reflection, I came back to me. I got over the drama. I focused on me AND my boys. It took some finagling, but I’m telling you it can be done. My coworkers thought I had on a weave when I started combing my hair and the Haterade spread with the quickness when she (that’s me in 3rd person for all the non-slang users) began to wear her size again. Yaass! (You know I loved it! Lol! They were some mean heifas.)  Anyway, the Christian me is over that. But, she was fly! Ok!

So, if you’re the frumpy mama or the recovering frumpy mom, it’s all love. But let’s get you together. Here are some summer looks to give you ideas. I know I’m tall and thin. (Don’t write to me. OK!) I simply want to give you a visual and some ideas. Now, go dress for your body type and rock it out!

Giirrlll, it’s high time you got your bounce back!

Fun Romper for summer with platform wedges- Yassss!

I love rompers as you will see. Easy to put on, not a lot of fuss, and Uber chic!

The day I took this photo, my son was like “how many photos do you need?” Me- Keep snapping! Lol!

Yes, use your kids as cameramen. I pay him in shelter, clothing, food, and water. And his fave- Playstation. So yes, take this here photo sir!

Short dress with After 5 Effects and 3-inch heels

I know I was wrong for buying this in the junior section, but I had to have it! Lol! When I wear this dress, I literally transform into the “Queen of Zamunda” from Coming to America. And yes, that is self-love you are detecting. Sorry! I was too lazy to reshoot in the better locale. You get the drift. Fierce!

I got to go to my first MLB game with Leah Frazier, a fantastic blogger, and editor at DFW Style Daily. Check her out! This was an event hosted by Gina Miller called “Girls Night Out”. If you’re in DFW, this has got to be an event you attend. Food, drinks, press box and mingling with some of the best gals Dallas has to offer. Fun, fun, fun times!

So yeah, this post was a lot of me. But, I hope you found some of you in it. I pray you’re inspired to pull out your own “Queen” outfits and rock! Come back to you! Get up, get out, and live!

When they call you too old, ask you who you think you are…  You know what?

Do It Anyway

How do you rock it out? What’s your favorite go-to summer outfit?
