Wow! Hasn’t time flown by! We have finished over half of the year. Are you where you want to be? I mean. Let’s be honest: goal-setting usually happens in January and most of us fall off soon after we start. I know. Ouch! But, we do. Or, should I say Theeeey do! Lol! But, I am here to help you get back up and rock this year out with these goal-setting tips!

As you know, I am an educator and single mom and thus my life would be a hot mess if I didn’t set goals and plan ahead…a lot ahead. So, I bet you have a busy life as well and maybe you need to reassess the rest of 2019. Need to set some goals in motion? If so, read on. If not, well, read on anyway! 🙂 Here are my 7 Great Goal Setting Tips That Rock!

1. Look back

In order to know if your plan worked, if you were successful, and if you are on the right track, you must look back. Look back on your decisions, progress, wins, losses, fun times, etc. Looking back can get you down if you focus on what you have not done. But, it can also (if you let it) show you how far you have come. Maybe you missed a deadline, but you got it done. Sister, you have to go into assessing your year prepared to combat the blues. Avoiding the “look back” is a no go for optimum success.

These steps and homework attached are designed to help you get the rest of the year rockin’! Not to make you feel bad. So, know the regret is going to surface and when it does, say this “I am where I am, and I am going where I should be“. Boom! Blues shot down, honey!

2. Look ahead

You know it! It’s time to sit down and plan the rest of your year! There is only one question you need to answer: Where do I want to be in December 2019? It’s a big question, but allow yourself the time to think, plan, and execute.

Wishing is not going to do it. Look ahead and then use the goal setting worksheet to do the work. Looking ahead should excite you. Yes! Get ready to finish well! You can do this!

3. Get real

2 things. 1) These goals are not gonna complete themselves. 2) What can you realistically do?

I say these two things to keep it allllllll the way real with you. No overload of things to do is going to help you and being “laissez-faire” won’t work either. Get real with you, your time commitments, your actual ability, and rock it!

4. Get serious

Yes, this is key. I can’t do this one for you. I can tell you that I am serious about being the World’s #1 Single Mom Coach, Author, Speaker, Blogger and I am on the track to do it. Now, what do you want to accomplish? Then you must get serious. One day is not a time target. Set it in stone and then work it.

You deserve to be successful, but you don’t deserve to have it without working for it.

5. Make Your Plan

Make a list of things to implement using these goal-setting tips. You have got to start by making a plan. You’ve heard the saying “If you shoot for nothing, you’ll hit it every time” I don’t know who said it, but I give them credit. This is so the truth. Plan to succeed. When you start planning your progress it is amazing how things happen. Not wishing, not by half-doing, but planning and doing. I can’t tell you how long it’ll take, but I can tell you that it will work if you plan for it.

I’m extra hype now thinking about how you are going to show up in 2019. Say it with me, BOOM! Shocka locka… No. Okay. Back to learning. Lol!

7. Do it all over again

Now you see the power of planning, prepping, looking ahead. Keep it up. You will be successful when you plan and implement these goal-setting tips. All the people we see and want to emulate started out with a plan. They worked one thing until it worked for them. Get on board with your dreams. Do not expect anyone else to until you are fully committed. Once it works, celebrate and do it all over again! Girl, you are a rockstar! Act like it!

Until next time, go rock out your life, show up, be present and

Do It Anyway!
