Ladies, we know too well how much a girls night out helps us get perspective, clarity, and a Break! And you know what? I got it last Thursday when I saw a prescreen with some of my Dallas boos. One of my girlfriends happens to be a bomb Fashion editor and fashionpreneur, so I love supporting her in all her endeavors. Her name is Leah Frazier and she had the pleasure of hosting two free pre-screens of The Intern and yours truly got to go. Read on to find out how a single mom like you had an unsuspecting amazing Girls Night Out, and what the movie had to do with it!

Girls Night Out

Because I blog, many of my friends are bloggers. So, I and my blogger boos met up for the prescreen and pretty much expected to just watch the movie. We ended up talking about this movie and everything we saw in it like an hour after the show and then we went to eat. You know we talked about the good and the not so good stuff we didn’t like that the characters did. Um-hum! You gotta see it, so you can know why I said, ‘No, he didn’t!’

Posing while we wait to eat at The Velvet Taco

The movie was the most fun! I hollered, rolled my eyes, gasped, oohed and ahhhed, and really – I dang near cried! (I had to hold in the tears). It was one of the most fun movies I’ve seen in a while. And the cool part is we did that thing where you look at your neighbor and say “Girrrl, that couldn’t be me!” and “He got the right one with her, honey!”  You don’t do that? You should! 😉

After The Intern movie, we went to get tacos at The Velvet Taco. Omg! My fave taco place! We were eating so good and having so much fun that we stood outside laughing and cracking up for another hour!  To know me, means you know I come with the jokes! So, we were cracking up extra hard. But, the movie brought us together. Because normally on a Thursday night, I’d be working. Although it was a work night for us all, we enjoyed ourselves. But, I tell you being half-sleep the next day was a struggle well worth it! Haha!

Sometimes you need a Girls Night Out!

My Review

Yes, I blog on single parenting, motivation, life as an entrepreneur, etc. And I know this seems a bit off track, but this movie includes all those topics and fashion! Snaps fingers!

I’m telling you Anne Hathaway’s character is the iconic girl boss and super mom we want to be! Besides the fact that Anne was in it, her role drew me to the film. I run a business, a family, and love fashion. I know some of you do, too! Her character is much of what we are! Yes, I saw myself in her character. I’m sure you will see much of you in her, too.

At the prescreen of The Intern movie with a packed house!

Most of us live this daily as single moms. Sometines, you just have to work! Don’t apologize!

Anne’s character has a dream as a career woman and a mom. And guess what? It works! It works so well that her business scales faster than she projects, and her life gets complicated in the process. I won’t tell the movie, but I applaud the studio for shedding light on how we see women who work versus women who stay home. We get to watch her interactions with her customers and her employees. And I think for those of us in business, it is a reminder of how to share the love for what we do with the people who care about its success the most. We oohed and ahead over the little girl who plays her daughter. Can you say precious!!!

I will say that I wanted to throw my shoe at the end, but I loved the movie! She so brings such a lovely touch to the role. She evolves as a character and our hearts melt. Yes! Get ready for drama!

Robert DeNiro’s character is smart, funny, and has a lot to teach the young ones he inherits at his new job as an intern. His character spotlights how we need to continue to love and value our senior leaders as they age. They were astute businessmen and women once and still have great knowledge and insight to share. That doesn’t stop when they age and retire. But, he is so funny in this film, too. (Just look for the blinking eye!) I screamed!!

Okay! Are you sold? I sure hope so! I enjoyed the movie The Intern and so did my girlfriends.

When was the last time you had a Girls Night Out? Go this weekend!

P.S. Here’s some footage of me and some other Dallasites discussing our take on the film. Enjoy!

As always,

Rock the life you got!
